Unity Plaza is proud to be an in-kind marketing sponsor of The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s March Showcase of the Jacksonville Songwriter Residency in the Spark District tonight during Artwalk!
Spark Grant recipient Brad Lauretti has been hitting the streets in the Spark District cultivating the songwriting movement in the urban core and forming collaborative partnerships with downtown businesses. One such partnership is with the Omni Hotel, which has resulted in the creation of a new music venue there as well as pushing more pedestrian traffic in that direction. This is successfully contributing to the Spark District initiative’s mission to activate the downtown walkable core through arts and culture. The willingness of private citizens and corporations to support the City in funding revitalization efforts is creating sparks.
Brad has arranged for musicians, including his current songwriter in residence, Woody Pines from Nashville, to play on stage inside the Omni Hotel during Artwalk in the downtown core of Jacksonville March 5.
When: Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in conjunction with Art Walk : First Wednesday Art Walk: All The World’s A Stage
Where: Omni Hotel Jacksonville, 245 Water Street. Performances will be held in the atrium, directly across from Juliette’s Bistro.

As you may have heard, the Omni recently completed renovations of the restaurant and bar area. To celebrate this and the songwriter showcase, they are offering drink specials and discounts on their most popular appetizers. Overnight Omni hotels stays and various brunch gift certificates will also be given away.
This is another showcase event of our Spark Grant recipients and we hope to see you there!
