Race course - from Jacksonville University to R.A.M.

Race course – from Jacksonville University to R.A.M.

On Saturday, August 23, JumpingFish, a Florida waterway advocacy group, will hold its second Up the River Downtown distance swim and paddle. Swimmers, kayakers, stand-up paddleboarders and more will take the plunge from the campus of Jacksonville University to navigate ten kilometers up the St. Johns River to the Riverside Arts Market. The event supports JumpingFish’s primary mission of advocating for our waterways through Athletics, Recreation & Tourism.

The JumpingFish swimming and safety crew will launch from Jacksonville University. Flotilla will launch from Arlington Road Boat Ramp and together they will journey “Up the River” to the Riverside Arts Market. You may opt to join them at any other access point along the route in the river south of Jacksonville University. The swimmers will be escorted by their safety team wearing Day-Glo orange shirts and will be easy to spot.

RAM Ride Jacksonville will join in the fun from dry land, providing a rolling escort for the aquatic participants along the North Bank Riverwalk from its furthest point near the Jacksonville Shipyards. Bring your friends and family, noisemakers of all kinds, and bicycles, unicycles, and kid trailers to meet under the Fuller Warren Bridge for a 9am departure for the bike ride from the Riverside Arts Market to the Shipyards. This will be the RAM Ride’s 158th installment!
