Jacksonville, Florida, July 30, 2014 – Celebrated Chef Kevin Sbraga is bringing his acclaimed style of cooking to Jacksonville next year, when the celebrity chef and winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef” season seven will launch his first restaurant outside of Philadelphia at Unity Plaza in the burgeoning Brooklyn neighborhood.
“Bringing Kevin Sbraga to the project is a huge win for our community as Jacksonville welcomes one of America’s most celebrated and accomplished chefs,” said Alex Coley, Unity Plaza land donor and the developer of 220 Riverside. “It has been mission critical that our retail space host a restaurateur who reflects the dynamic nature of the Unity Plaza community gathering space and the reborn Brooklyn neighborhood as a whole.”
Coley engaged restaurant consultant VSAG (Vucurevich Simons Advisory Group) in the search for the ideal restaurateur for the unique space. His team visited Chef Sbraga’s award-winning restaurants Sbraga and The Fat Ham in Philadelphia, and, in turn, Chef Sbraga spent considerable time in Jacksonville to immerse himself with the local culture and food scene.
“Jacksonville’s coastal location and warm climate provide a vibrant selection of quality local ingredients to work with, and I’m looking forward to incorporating them into the menu I’m developing,” said Chef Sbraga. “I’m truly honored to be a part of this project at 220 Riverside and excited to be working with Hallmark to bring it all to life. I can’t wait to introduce the local community to the brand of hospitality we’ve become known for in Philadelphia!”
“Sbraga will call Jacksonville his home part-time and will be hands-on in every level of this new restaurant flag in celebration of Jacksonville’s rich culinary history, as well he will collaborate in several of our signature, annual events”, remarked Unity Plaza Executive Director, Jennifer Jones.
